Radio shutting off

I am new to LVC. I have been reading a lot of the posts and everybady has been very helpful. I was just given a 92 LTC from a relative. I have been driving it for one day so far and I love it. The only thing is that, when I get in the car and start to drive, it takes about 5-10 minutes for the radio to come on. It will stay on until I turn the car off. The time is takes to come on always varies. Just wondering if someone has had this kind of problem before. Thanks in advance.

i have a problem similare lol
my wont shut off i can turn volume down but cant shut of LOL

Does just the sound go out or does the whole radio actually t/off? sounds like the amp is getting hot and cutting off. If you have a set of FORD radio removal tools ( u - shaped) then pop the radio out just a bit to allow air to circulate and see if the problem gets better.

I do have it sticking out a little bit now. I appreciate the tip though. I tried replacing the radio with another one that is identical and it still does the same thing. Don't know what else to try.
