I was speaking with my local audio shop about the two Type R 12" subs I have now.. The guy I was speaking with informed me about the Slash series JL amps.. That they run equally well for 2, 3, or even 4 ohm loads.. They list the 500/1 amp at 599$ new.. I can get it for 475$ ish from them but curious how well they really perform if anyone has tested/used these before?

It is the number 1 selling amp in the country (that particular model). Has more power than the average 500 watt amp. Let me know if you want it tho. I can get it cheaper than that for you.

Consider it sold, give me a price and a place to send the $$

JL amps = slightly underrated.
Alpine type-R = great SQ subs

Good setup.

Well I have talked with 2 audio shops and about 4 installers, and they all highly recommend it with these subs, and say that if later I want to switch to just a 10w7 that this is the amp they would recommend for it to, so I am definately getting one. A friend of mine knows the owner of one shop, but I doubt I can get it for under 400. So let me know Galant, I am anxious to get this system going =)
