DynoTune results

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: driller

The tune gained 15 HP and 15 LBFT or torque over baseline.

Posted by: 1wykdmk8

Nice gain by the Dynotune.......where is that place that you got it done at? Once I start back to upgrading my car I will need that also.......

Posted by: 67Continental

how exactly did you tune your car? It's OBD-I, right?

Posted by: driller

I got hooked up with Extreme MotorSports and SCT Tuning through some friends.

Pics and Vids

They basically flash the tune on the chip.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

That thing sounds mean! Post some pics of your exhaust for me! Nice job by the way!

Posted by: 67Continental

driller - that's really cool. what gear did you run in for the dyno results? Second?

They lock it in third(1:1) for the pull.

My exhaust is just a cat-back single-X dual 2-1/2" with Dynomax UltraFlows(Didya hear those Supercoupes screamin'? lol) .

Posted by: 1wykdmk8

Isn't Extreme Motorsports a Diamond Star/WRX tuner shop?

JP = wannabe ricer.....hahahahahahaha

They are too far for me.....I will hafta find a shop around here when I get the $$$ to get a chip.....I need to get the car on the road first....LOL.

Sounds good JP....not loud enuf for me, but nice.

Ouch!

Posted by: StraDog

OMFG, I want a damn SC on my Mark now. Just listening to that SC makes my hair stand up in pleasure. LOL. Nice runs JP, car's getting better every week. Wish I was you.

That damn supercoupe is wild ! I want one now.

Posted by: MarkVIII93

Didnt notice the SC until you said something. That sounds like a damn airplane!

Posted by: bigdog1279

how mouch dose it cost to get your car tuned i was wondering
can they dyno tune a 95 continental like that

Posted by: MonsterMark

That SuperCoupe sounded like SuperCrap. I hear enough whiny crap from my wife, much less drive around and listen to that all day.

Now JP's, that's the way a car is supposed to sound. Nice run John.

That supercoupe has a 3.8L V6 and even without nitrous the car managed to put out a max of 274HP and 340ft/lbs at the rear wheels. The injectors were close to being maxed out so no run was made on nitrous. He's going to have to upgrade the fuel system. Even still, as it sits, it's a mid to high 13 second car. He gained 12 HP with the tune. Of course, he has a lot more torque than a Mark VIII.

As far as cost, it's not cheap. Dyno time will run you about $100 average, and you'll need a chip with the tune which I think goes for like $350. Even with a SCT chip already on the car, you're talking $250 minimum.

That was the first time I've heard my exhaust at WOT from outside the car. I agree Bryan, it sounds good in my book. Oh and BTW, I think that guy could've tree'd me last time at the track!

Posted by: 98LSC32V

Expect a nice gain in MPH next time at the track. I wouldn't be surprised if you trapped 98-100mph on a good run. Very nice gains...

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

Nice JP. Walt put down 260 to the wheels at Carlisle a couple years ago in the heat. You were there Ray.

Posted by: Frogman

Can a tune correct for different sized tire diameter?

Posted by: buddylee

Couldn't you just buy a chip preprogamed? and gain the same??
My car is stock , but drill air box and k&N filter?

Posted by: Lincolnpimpin

Nice results I went to this one shop the other day and they were dynoing a Z06 WOW. It was LOUD every time he ruved it up to max I would jump. IDK a what he all got on but yea it was loud.

BTW Driller how far did that guy beat you.

Posted by: 67Continental

i was supposed to dyno my car saturday, i was the next car in line, but it broke dynoing a porsche 944 - 2600 hp according to the broken sensor. Before it broke, the porsche did 275 hp at the wheels.

Posted by: Nakoa

if the car is supposed to be 280 or 290 hp stock.. why post aftermarket mods is it only 252?

im totally ignorant on this..

Posted by: Frogman

Advertised power is usually measured at the flywheel.

A car will have anywhere between 15-20+% power loss through the drivetrain because of friction.

His numbers are at the rear wheels.

Posted by: Nakoa

thats what i was thinking it might be, but wasnt sure.. only know enough about this stuff to get myself in trouble..
so rwhp means real world horse power or rear wheel horse power?

Posted by: klutch

rear wheel

I think it can be done on the Gen2s?

My gains were realized above the pre-programmed chip.

Go to SCT Tuning and find a dealer with a dyno.

If I already have an SCT chip how much would an SCT dyno tune cost me for my 95 roughly?

Posted by: StraDog

Geno, what was done to Walt's Mark while he had it dyno'd ?

Those are some pretty nice numbers.

Posted by: bigdog1279

cool i just looked on the sct websight found a few places near me

Turns out Extreme MotorSports is about a 20 minute drive from me. Any chance of me getting a hook up over there somehow?

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

JP, your saying the dyno tune ousted the chip on the dyno? If thats the case I hope the comparison runs were back to back, if not then the results are flawed.Too many variables will affect the outcome, humidity, baro, temp...etc.

Jon, Walt did those runs in 91 degree heat with terrible humidity. Mods were LMS chip, maf kit, Nology wires, LMS adjustable fpr, 255 pump, 3.73 gears and a few more bolt ons with a dead stock engine.

Sorry Jon about the edit.. I pressed the wrong button.

The first run on the rollers netted like 237 HP and torque in the upper 240s. This was with the switch chip in the 'Race" position(same as I had when the car ran a 13.99 the prior weekend). That program was copied and modified and then flashed to a separate switch position. A couple more runs to tweak the program and then a final run after a 15-20 minute cooldown and a final flash.

What I did not realize until later, I needed to ask for a 'comparison graph'.

Geno, I think what Jon was reffering to and I am wondering, what was done on Walt's car in 7 minutes while on the rollers to bump up the HP from 245 to 260??

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

We adjusted the fuel pressure up 10psi and reset the battery.

With a chip, resetting the battery changes the WOT settings??

your mark is OBD-I - I went to the sct website and couldn't find much information about their chips for our obd-i cars. You have a chip with selectable programs? Are they selected through a switch in the car?

No, not at all. We upped the fp so I reset the battery to take advantage of that.

Yes, it is a small rotary switch. I mounted it through a drilled hole under the dash in the removable trim beneath the steering column. You can have 5 programs - one being the stock program.

* - 75 HP in diesel chip only

Product Name :

SCT 6600 4 Program - 4 Bank Chip EEC-IV and EEC-V ELIMINATOR SWITCH CHIP

Product Description :

Six Function, Four Program - Four Bank Chip
User selects one of four programs via a dial 0, 1, 2, 3.
Program 4 is the FACTORY STOCK
Programs 5, 6, 7 NO START

Geno, do you now sell 4-bank/5-program switch chips?

Posted by: ONEBADMK8

I can get milti-program blanks sure.
