Engine replacement for 1982 Fleetwood....

Ok, well I just signed up and I hope I can find some answers.
First of all I have a 1977 Coupe Deville that was given to me by and elderly
gentleman with the instructions to just keep it running so he can drive it
when he is in town. Nice car, low miles, good mileage on the highway.
Now the prioject, I have a 1982 Fleetwood limosine with the 4.1 liter (aluminum
block-iron heads) V-8. This is not running so I'm pulling this engine and going to put something else in. Any suggestions? It appears to have the universal bolt
pattern on the transmission bellhousing (BPOC), THM200-R4. I currently have
a 500 CID Caddy motor on hand but there are definitely some big differences between these two engines. I will keep you informed as I progress. If anyone
has done this or has any ideas please E-mail with any comments, Thanks...

I strongly advise not to install the 500 cid caddy motor, because that car would have to be Frankensteined to the point of ruining it, so, it would be self defeating and not meet your needs.

If it were me, I would look for a smaller V8 (physically). Perhaps, small block Chevy would better suit your needs.
