Tranny swap

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rdsnyder

I wonder if anyone has ever done a tranny swap on a mark 8, to a 6 speed manual. What is involved, or what considerations should be made for this. Ive never heard of it done, though I am new to this web site, I think it'd be a fantastic idea for a true luxury sport car to have this done. If you have any idea's let me know...

thanks

AFAIK, I am the only person with a manual trans in a MarkVIII. I went with a T-45 in the 94, and am about to put a T56 in the 95, as it has the 4.10's to facillitate the extra OD gear. There is alot to the swap, but it's not that hard. There have been people asking about it, and there was even a guy that posted pictures showing he was working on it, but onthing ever came out of it. Like frogman said, do a search especcially my username, and you'll come up with responses.

BTW....welcome to LVC!

i used a napa part in my car for the mlps, it works great.

No Prob man......I have'nt "HEARD" bad things about the autozone sensors. But I hate Autozone with a passion reserved for the depths of hell. I would dig through a junk yard for a used part before I went to the "Zone". I hit up Napa anytime I need a part.

Check them out.

hey thanks to all we will go with the $22.00 part (not the $117.00 one) we do have a local napa store, and from what i hear from you guys in here, i will drive the extra 5 miles, the ford place and another respectable auto service told me to look for another trans, $1800.00 at the one, and $25,00.00 at the ford place. with the toothpaste for my headlights, (coudy). bet guess $200.00 + the trans (if it works) lol you you guys in hear have saved me about $2000.00, so far, hell haven't been a member but a few weeks, and hey, thanks again, (even if it don't work !!!!!!!!!) got them fingers crossed thou. lol

I called Maxx at Five Star Ford, he got me the upgraded MLPS, which, unlike the early models, has a gasket in it to prevent moisture from getting in, for HALF of the original price, so I payed about $60. If having an OEM part means anything to you, this deal may be worth it.

Posted by: terry_jones84

that sounds good, $60 isn't bad, they are putting in the $22 part in as we speak (rather as i speak) sure hope it works, will know by noon, and thanks for the info on the up grade, may get that one later, if this will fix my down shifting and all !!!!!!!!!
tj

well, got the car back, it has not drop down a gear, but shifts pretty hard, any ideals out there on that ,and so far it drives better, and thanks to all that helped me with this!!!!!!!!!!
