Headlight Problems

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

When I first bought my Mark VIII there was a build up of moisture in the left headlight, so I drilled a small hole underneath the light to drain it and that worked great, and helped with visibility… but it still wasn’t that good. Now just recently the reflector in front of the low beam rusted and broke off and now it’s just sitting in there. My lights have never really been that great and I don’t know if its just the way the Mark VIII is or I have bad housing for them, I pretty much always drive with my high beams (with those new white light bulbs) on because they seem like they are close to most cars low beams or less. Any ideas on what to do, or where to buy parts so that I can see would be nice.

I think that it's the housing for the lights, not the light itself.... I've messed around with it a bit but I cant figure out how to get it off... or kno where to even buy a new housing.... I mean does ur Mark VIII headlights seem really powerfull or normal

I just got new ones so very bright, but the way you can tell if they're going out at night when you have you lights if they don't light up everything in front of you then that means you need new lights or balast. and inorder to get the housing off you practacle have to take the whole front end apart starting form the front cover and down.

If they are the stock housings, the reflector is shot. The bulb heats the reflective film inside the housing and dulls it to an almost black color. Compound that with the ty lens design and you have the recipe for no night vision. I have HID's in my 95, and my 94 and would'nt trade them for the world. (Ask the guys that were at the LVC meet tonight.......HID's friggin rock!!)

I am in the process of moulding HID projectors into the stock 94 halogen housings, and sanding the low beam portion smooth. When they are done....I won't need them anymore as I have a new set on the 94.
