just a question, is special suspension (struts actually) a sport edition of the LS??? in Ford dealer they got some listings and one says special suspension and the other is touring i guess , im having troubles here....

Well, there are two different suspension categories for the LS and they are the base and sport. Base of course is a softer feel suspension with base shocks and a standard sway bar. The sport suspension has stiffer shocks and a slightly bigger sway bar.

Typically, the quickest way you can tell a base model LS from a sport model is the chrome strips on the bumper. The base model has chrome strips while the sport version does not.

There's a few different kinds. Whatever stock is classified as, and then there's "Sport" and "European" I think.

I believe that they made 3 different types:
softest to stiffest:
premium
sport
euro

Actually:
softest to stiffest:
base
sport
euro

the Premiums could order Sport suspension as an option.

ok thats how we go by it, but dealer has different names for those...reason im asking is my friend works for ford so i get "special treatment", my jag was non sport, so i told him to hook me up with struts from sport LS , so he looked around and came to conclusion that "special suspension" must be sport, casue its more expensive than the rest, plus when it got here , the front did look a lot beffier then my struts meanwhile the rears were the same....but thats not the issue..i got my eibach springs today , so without looking at the part numbers on the springs i went with knowledge , i did the front one first when i swapped the spring, i put back in the car and......hmmm, actually 1-2inches higher???? im like WTF....so i looked at the instruction and the other springs were for front (but i couldve swaer these for for it, even came in nicely on the stock sport struts), so when i tried to put the right spring in hmm another problem, the rubber base where spring sits its wider then the LS spring so i had to notch it a little, also went in no porblem and......hmmmm sits the same, usually on all the cars i lowered usually the car went down on the spot an inch or so, here it sits same height(maybe casue all the springs i put on previous cars were 1.8inch and lower ,you know those mazdas, nissans, etc eibach pro-kit only loweres an inch), maybe itll get there when i do a round around the block

Did you check to see if ther was any difference between the two, side by side comparison?

sorry - i didn't realize you were talking about a jag.

The platform's suspension geometry is common in castings, but aligned, tuned, and damped to produce distinct feel and control. Shock absorbers (see sidebar) and power steering valving are different as well.

Though the S-Type shares its basic architecture with the Lincoln LS, though there are many differences particularly on post-2003 models, and the Lincoln and Jaguar are completely different in character, a tribute to the engineers for both cars....

The LS suspension has shocks in front, not struts.

All 2000-2005 Lincoln LS's have front and rear coil over shocks. They do not have struts.

I'm confused. I read Greys post on the color coded shocks but I have 17 inch chrome wheels on my car w/chrome on bumpers. I didn't see the 17 chrome listed only 17 alloys? I had my front shocks replaced by Lincoln would they put the shocks that my car called for or just put base in? If I look at my rears (because I believe they're still original) where would the color be and what color would be there to determine if I had sport susp? TIA
