"Washer Fluid Low""

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi,

I've had my 96 Mark V111 for about a week now. When I first got it the system said my "washer fluid is low" Sure enough it was low. I poured almost a full jug of the blue liquid into the reseivoir. The windshield washers work perfect but the warning light keeps telling me I need fluid. Interestingly, when I first start the car and perform a system check it tells me it is fine. The next time I check, only a few seconds later, it tells me the reseivoir is low.

Is there a way I can reset it or is it a software problem the dealership will have to reset?

I've learned a lot about my car through this site.

Thanks,
Jerry

To reset the system, just remove the negative wire from the battery.(for a few mins) I don't if this would fix the problem.

maybe the sensor inside the washer fluid thing is broke?

i get low engine coolant every once in a while, especially if i am parked at an angle or if the car was in the cold - even tho the coolant level is fine. just a quirk of the car.

I had the same problem with my old 93. tracked it down to a wire that was shorting out after the switch. I doubt this is your problem, but it's an idea.

Thanks for the advice. I really thought this would work. I couldn't remove the negative terminal, seems like the clamp is almost welded on. I was able to take off the positive terminal though, left it off for a few minutes, then replaced it but with no luck.

Thanks,
Jerry

Sounds like the Low Washer Fluid Sensor is going/gone bad.
