Dennys Driveshaft

I spoke with a nice gentleman at Denny's this morning. I will be buying a driveshaft from these guys next week.

My question to you all is, can I do this job in my driveway with car ramps, or should I take it to a shop with a lift?

IIRC, last time I looked under the car, the tank was under the driveshaft, so that tells me the tank has to come out... does it? Or can I jsut tilt it a bit?

If it has to come out, I'm putting a 255LPH pump in there as well.

Please advise.

If I can do it in my driveway, why should I have to take it to a shop with a lift.

Does the tank have to fully come out, or can I tilt it?

You see where your reply doesnt make sense? I appreciate the humor, but come on, I'm trying to get some insight from the Mark VIII Masters here.

No it does'nt have to come completely out, Just dropped down enough to get the DS clear of the car. Make sure to take the 10 MM bolt holding the filler tube to the body. There are a couple of Xmembers that need to be unhooked but all in all, it's no big deal. also....I'm sure Denny told you, but make sure to clean the companion flange on the rearend before you bolt the new one up. You don't want anything messing up the perfect balance job they do.

Thank you sir.

I spoke to one of his employees, I think, but the gentleman did mention something about the flange, right before I make a t00l of myself, and asked him why their driveshafts don't have U Joints at the differential.

I mean, won't that put stress on the Transmission, everytime the car goes over a bump?

Yeah, I know, IRS, Differential doesnt really move. I caught myself, but it was too late.

They do have a U-joint on the back. ???

Hrm.... I must be reading your previous post wrong. It LOOKS like your saying they don't have a joint on the back of the shaft. Sorry man.

Go to Rinehart's site. he has prices that are competitive and the shaft also has the heavy duty u-joint installed.

Dennys com with SEVERE DUTY 1330 U joints installed. Go to Reinharts for business with extreme caution.
