Has anyone pondered a swap with one of these beasts?

Scroll to bottom for DOHC.

Thoughts?

Hyland kicks ass, but he's way expensive. You could save a few bucks by buying elsewhere and assemlbing yourself or finding a good builder. I have a 5.0 Cammer project going on. I ordered a 98 Teksid block and I'm having it bored to 3.704 inches. The special big-bore sleeves are going to cost me more than the block and machine work combined...

If I did'nt build my own, I would go with VT engines. I have heard a few things about Hyland that don't sit well with me. I have heard nothing but good things from VT's engine program. Everyone needs to remember the modular engine is STILL in it's infancy, and not too many parts are availible for them. As such, prices are gonna be ALOT higher than you would be used to paying for a "classic" engine.

My cousin, a professional machinist who has done two successful modular machinings. One bored to .020, and the other a 5.0 big bore. Not to mention over 1,000 machinings of big block Checy, Ford, and Mopar.

VT Engines is good. But of course, like Hyland, I've heard some complaints. You'll hear bad things about any company, no matter what. VT is really big with the Corral crowd right now.

All I really can tell you is do your homework and you'll get the best grade...
