Tampa Area Get Together

But there is a catch...I need assistance replacing my driver side coils and plugs. If anyone or more people are willing to help out. Let me know.

Jay

Posted by: GrayGhost1

I'd come help you out if I was in the area. Surely you can get someone close to come by and help you out.

Posted by: Akkord29

Well I've already done the passenger side. But after looking at the driver side, I know I couldn't do it myselfl. And finally today after 8 months of bad idling my CEL came on. I stopped by Autozone on my way home from work and it read misfire in cylinder 8.

Posted by: eL eS

You have a garage dood? I live in Brandon and would be happy to lend a hand. There is a tech document posted in the LS forum that discusses in great detail how to the the job.

I have a V6 and have the engine cracked open more that I ever cared to. I am cerain w can knock it out in no time flat.

PM me if you want to do this and have a place we can cover the care while we do it. You know how the Florida showers are.

Hell it rained all day the day I had my upper and lower intake off both times. I just sold my home so I do not have a garage for the moment.

Posted by: eL eS

Maybe we can have a Tampa Orlando gathering and anyone that wat to do the same project just all knock it out at once.

Wish I knew someone with some warehouse space we could all park in to do this.

Posted by: GrayGhost1

Sounds like a good idea for a GARAGE DAY!!

Posted by: eL eS

This fits pefectly with my propsition a few moths ago to have a area volunteer list or good ol' boy network or whatever ya want to call it.

I think if we bulked up the order and hit 5star or torries for quotes we might eve be able to squeeze on the prices a bit.

The big catch is finding the garage space. to get 2 or 2 cars in at a time so we could roll through the projects quickly.

I am down with a Tampa/ Orlando gathering! set a date and i will make for sure!

Posted by: katz_blk90se

I am in Riverview and would love to get together with you guys. Let me know date and time..........Katz

Posted by: eL eS

awesome.

I would like to make this a "garage day" as Ken coined it but I no longer have a garage. Anyone have a Garage big enough to work on a car or two at a time?

Actually, how many folks have an issu they would like to try to fix?

If it is just one then this should be an easy thing to set up.

Posted by: Akkord29

Yes the main problem would be find a garage to work at. I have minimal to basic tools.

I know I need 4 coils changed on the driver side.

I believe there was another person who posted in the LS forum from the area who also had a coil problem.

If anyone would like to have anything else besides coils, we can work on that as well.

Chime in people. The sooner the better. I can't drive my car to work anymore without changing this coil problem.

Posted by: eL eS

I donot have a garage and franly I do have a wheel snsor need to replace. But w need a place to work that has room enough for us to try to service two cars at once in case we get others that want to do some work. I will be more than happy to help ya out but you now the f weather this time of year and to do this without cover would be irresponsible IMHO.

Hi guys, spoke with Noah (EL) last night. I have any air tools or whatever needed to do the work. I also live in Brandon. My only problem is I have a small garage, and my 65 Falcon lives there. I can pull it out, and pray for no rain if we want to put one in the garage. But it will be tight in there to work. I re-shot my front bumper in there about a month ago, and it was tight. Let me know or Noah. I can accomidate a couple of cars but not like 5 or 6... Neiborhood is to tight. Street and driveway wise. But I'm willing to help.

Yeah thanks for the offer fordman. I am hoping that one of the guys that has the critical repair issues might have some space as I do not want you to hav to expose your classic to the Florida elements. It rains when every it wants down here and it usually is an outright down poor.

Plus we do not want to pt your neighbors out at te sae time. I know how people ca get when more cars show up in the streets. And streets are seldom made wide enough to accomodate parking and trafic. Thanks agai for your generous offer.

Posted by: Akkord29

Thanks for the offer Fordman. I also do not have a garage that we can work out of or the neighborhood at that. Alot of older folks complain when I park my car on the street.

Lets see if anyone has a place to offer. If not I'm willing to pay someone for help ASAP.

Jay,

If you have a good relationship with your local dealership ask them if you can rent out a lane or two in their shop. This might be a good alternative and having all the Lincoln's there may be a win-win situation for them. It might bring them some business. I'd say approach the Service Manager and ask him if you could rent out some space to have a Lincoln Garage Day. It's a thought and I think someone has done this before somewhere else.

Posted by: eL eS

the one dealership i had a good relationship with sold their licoln delaship to a new ford dealer and fordman adn I have discovered they are sloooow and customer service is very poor.

Posted by: Fordman

I agree, I don't think our new Lincoln Stealership would let us do anything there?? Their a$$holes. Let me talk to my son. He may access to his tint shop. We may be able to get in there on mabey a Sunday when there closed. That's about all I can come up with right now..... As far as my niehbors go, they would have no problem with the cars. Well get together on. I'd like to see this happen. My son may want to be there, since he has a Mark VIII... He does mostly all his own work.

Posted by: eL eS

Super. I have racked my brain trying to think of someone/where we could do this. The more the merrier LS, Marks, Avi, Navi and huh hmm ehhh caddi's

Posted by: Fordman

No Caddy's.....

Yeah I was jus' tryin' to rib the caddi folks but they really do not see to stop in here much. I'll look at the memeber list again but Iam pretty certain that FL membership is nearly 100% Lincoln.

Florida... the new land of Lincoln.

I'd love to shake the sunshine state bit as it is too hot down here right now.

Posted by: JoeyLincolnMK8

noah, fordman... kudos on the hard work! i hope we can do something, and make this a cool get together.

Posted by: eL eS

I am so ready to se some faces and shake some hands I can't stand it. I would like to be able to help a few folks out at the same time if at all possible.

Iam going to call this ford tech I know that had to move to this crapp dealer John and I mentioned earlier and se if he has som leads.

Posted by: eL eS

OK before I do that... my wife works with a woman who with her husband tunes this Rousch Mustang it is sick. At any rate I have asked her to se if sh has any iggys for a place to do a garage day.

I real need to know who all will be wanting to do work just so I can set some expectations. Plus on the short chance eithe of my leads require a small amoutn of finanacial motivatio for use of said space are you folks that want to get the work done ready to share in any potential cost.

Rest assured if this if there is any I will bust my bumper to low ball em on it. This is jus amuc of an opportunity for an perspective business owner or tech to earn some extra business and a I will actively promote it as such.

I think we have a strong group of FLM owners in our section of the SE and I intend to try to leverage it for our benefit at any opportunity I see so long as it fits the rules and regs established by the proprietors of LvC.com

Posted by: JoeyLincolnMK8

whatever the cost is noah, i am able to dish out! just keep us all posted on the location and date, and i will be there buddy!

Posted by: eL eS

not certain if I will be working on mine yet as I am trying to squeeze some CFL, SWFL and SFL lincoln dealers on an 05.

I am still in love with my 00 so if they can't get near where I want to be there will be no love lost.

It looks like the 06s are priced pretty close to what I am seing on the quotes for the employee plan 05s

Posted by: Akkord29

Wow, you guys have been hard at work since this afternoon. Thanks for all the help on the locations.

Ken - as for the dealership I go to, it will not happen there. They are not so nice either.

Ill willing to pay for renting a place out up to a certain extent.

Posted by: eL eS

I will push to get the space FOC if at all possible. If I hae not heard from my wife's co-woker and/or husband byMonday I will call te ford tech that I know. I am confident he wont get the parts through the dealer but he is a good guy and should know someone with some space.

Ahh snap. I will hit my old neighbor up too. I know ths guy that used to work for the dealer I used years ago. He left and opened a shop for a while here in Brandon. I will slide by on saturday and chat with himand see if he is still running the joint of ifhe thinks the whoever is will let buys some space fora little while.

I am gonnaget this MFer hooked one way or another. I am still in a fog from selligmy house and over extending myself in my work forthe past month and a half.

TIme and place, and I will surely try to make it.

Posted by: eL eS

I am aiming for Aug 20th this should provide us enough time to solidify a location to accomplish our task of fixing at least one car and chewing the fat for a bit.

Not to put you on the spot but do you think we could use the Audio Itch garage area on like a sunday?

I doubt it. We are open on Sunday for business now. The owner prob wouldnt go for that one.

Posted by: Akkord29

Thanks Galantz28x, we are shooting for the 20th to get together, keep watching to see a location.

Posted by: GrayGhost1

Yeah, maybe by then you'll have a new set of rims...right Jay?

Posted by: Akkord29

Maybe not Ken, they said they don't make the 19's in our bolt pattern.

So, the guy on eBay responded to your email? I never heard anything from him. Howver, that's a bummer on the 19" wheels.

Yup, he replied this morning.

Posted by: eL eS

No luck on either guy. My old nighbor is going out of the country and the guy I know at the dealer doesnt have the time this month. I am waiting to hear from the gal my wife works with to see if they have a shop they go to that would be consideried friendly to our situation.

Posted by: Akkord29

No luck here either, I tried a friend of a friend, and he can't accommadate us either. Ill keep trying as well.

Posted by: eL eS

Wifes co-worker did not pan out she said the most the dealer will let us use is a conference room; liability issues pretty much keep the shops from rent out space or letting folks work on their own car.

Posted by: SurfjaxLS

I'm pretty sure that between all of you guys, you probably have a mostly complete set of tools. Maybe you should get a list of what is needed, have people bring certain tools, and then you can find a more general area to work. Just my thoughts.

Posted by: Fordman

I have pretty much any tool needed...I have no problem using my place, the only thing is the space. Also I'm having some medical issues right now, so I have to see what the Doc says. I also stuck out with my son's place. His boss said it was an insurance issue. At any rate Noah it was really great meeting you the other night. Like you said we need to do it again.

Posted by: Akkord29

I've been out of town for the last last couple days, but doesnt look like we got a place to work with yet. Ill keep looking as well. Hopefully we can get something done this weekend, can't really drive my car around. I feel like I'm messing up the transmission.

Posted by: GrayGhost1

Why don't you just buy one of those big pop up canopies and use it or does it have to be garage?

Posted by: eL eS

Anyone in tampa wit an 00 LS let me know. I have my shop manuals arond some where and I would more than happy to give them to you.

I donot have the electrical wiring diagram book but I do have Vol I and Vol II maintenance manuals.

I sold my LS today and bought an 05 G35 Sedan 6spd MT Blk/Blk so I wont be needing them any longer. I also have a spare windshield rain sensor.

I have an autoenginuity.com scantool that I would be willing to sell for 150. PM me if you are interested as I have some better detals about the package that would be beneficial for FLM owners.

I'll stillbe happy to help turn some wrenches if you want the help. I still love the LS and it will be a long time before I have it out of my system.

If I hadn't have moved from Sarasota, I would have already been by your house to pick them up.

Posted by: Akkord29

Alright guys, we don't look like we are going to find a location this time around.

So I am willing to pay someone to help me do the driver side. If you have a small garage it should be good enough. PM me, I need to get it fixed ASAP.

You Trader...LOL So you bought another French Car??? Keep the French happy. Well it's been great.. I'm ready to buy a Hybrid, if this gas s&*t doesn't let up soon. A freind of mine that had a LS traded his recently for a G35 coupe. He like it, but still says he misses the LS.... Good luck.
