Help - 2000 LS8 with coil packs going bad

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Please bare with me....I am new to the site.

I have a 2000 LS8 with about 55k miles. I have already replace the #1 & #4 coil pack and it is starting to act up again. Is there anything specific that could be causing this?

Your valve cover gaskets are probably leaking. Get them checked and replaced. Happened to me back in december.

I had the same problem a while ago. My coils were going out 1 and 2 at a time. The only thing that stopped the problem is when I just got all of them changed. I guess the new ones were putting a strain on the old ones.

Check for oil in the wells. Hopefully the tech articles in my sig can help you out. I have 2 LSs and have new and old coils mixed in both with no problems. Either you are having bad luck, you have something causing the coils to go bad, or you replaced coils that really weren't bad. It took my a couple of guesses to get my wife's car right. I thought I had it the first time, but when it started acting up again, I swapped to a different plug and have had no problems since. It would help if you have codes showing up in the computer, but it isn't 100% necessary.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your input. Hopefully I can find out the problem and fix it.....I really hate to have to get rid of my car.
