92 deville problem

Afriend has a 92 deville 4.9. The problem occurs while driving, in forward or reverse, and in any gear. The engine bogs and tries to pick up repeatedly until the gas is let off. This will not occur in neutral. My first instinct is MAP sensor, however being a ford guy, Im not familiar with how to test it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
